Paperback Progress

So, I’ve gotten a LOT of questions about finding Tales for Gullible Children in a hard copy edition, and it’s good news/bad news time.  Bad news: I’m sold out of the hardcover edition that I ordered for family and friends, so sorry.  Good news: the paperback edition is making good progress, in fact, I got the finished cover art today!  Cool, huh?

So, what happens next?  Well, I’ve got some formatting work farmed out, which should be done within three more days.  After that, I’m ready to submit it to Amazon, who do some vetting to make sure that people like it enough to print (if y’all wanted to stop by the book’s Amazon page and leave a review, I bet that would help them decide faster).

I’m not sure how long the vetting process takes, but assuming it passes muster, I then need to order a proof to make sure that everything looks just right.  If it does, than I can set it to go live for ordering immediately.  If it doesn’t, I’ll need to adjust it and re-check a proof.  This is important, and we’re gonna do it right.  Anyway, once it’s live, Amazon offers print-on-demand, so as soon as you order it, they print you up your very own copy and send it straight to your doorstep.

So, my best guess is that we’re looking at at least a couple of weeks before you can buy Tales for Gullible Children as a paperback.  As always, I’m sorry for the delay; if I’d known there were going to be so many requests, I would have had this all ready to go at the same time as the Kindle version.  You’re welcome to watch this space for updates, which I’ll post in real time, or follow the Tales for Gullible Children Facebook page.  If all goes as planned, I’m hoping to make the paperback available by April.

And for those of you who wrote that you plan to get the book as a gift for children or grandchildren, let me once again gently suggest that you read it yourself first, to make sure that you find it appropriate 🙂
